In the XRP story, Gary Gensler is a villain. Some have called him a rat-faced weasel while others have pointed out his uncanny resemblance to the Simpson’s Mr. Burns.

Gary Gensler is a financial educator and regulator who served as the Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) during the Biden presidency.

He notoriously led a campaign against the crypto industry, claiming to focus on issues such as investor protection and market manipulation. Many believe his actions to be in direct contradiction of the agency’s mandate to protect investors, often causing more harm than good. 

Under his command, he pushed the SEC’s unjust lawsuit against Ripple Labs, alleging XRP to be an unregistered security.  Many in the crypto community have criticized the case as a government sanctioned plan to create unfair advantages for select crypto projects in the US.
